On August 31, 2020, UPF Ghana organized a commemorative event at the Mile 7 Church Hall, bringing together 50 participants to mark the 11th Anniversary of the Holy Ascension of True Father.
The event was attended by a diverse audience, including blessed couples, Ambassadors for Peace, and several dignitaries from the Accra Metropolis. Its primary objective was to honor and remember the legacy of True Father, Reverend Dr. Sun Myung Moon, on this significant anniversary.
The attendees were treated to a multimedia presentation that included a 21-minute video and a PowerPoint presentation detailing True Father’s remarkable journey and his enduring legacy of peace. This comprehensive overview shed light on True Father’s more than 50 years of public life and activities, serving as an eye-opener for many guests who may not have been fully aware of his contributions to peace.
One of the highlights of the event was the recognition and presentation of Ambassadors for Peace awards to three distinguished individuals. These honorees included a Police Inspector, known for his NGO “Watch Your Tongue,” a Customs Officer associated with the “Jesus Ark Foundation” NGO, and an Afrobeat Musician. Their dedication to peace and their contributions to society were acknowledged through these awards.
Furthermore, the event witnessed a significant moment of commitment to peace-building. The Police Inspector and the Customs Officer pledged to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with UPF, indicating their willingness to collaborate on future peace-building activities. This partnership holds promise for furthering the cause of peace in the region.
The event concluded with an announcement by Dr. Helen Osei, UPF Secretary General, regarding the upcoming September 21 event, the “Accolade Award” for Heads of State. She encouraged everyone to participate in this forthcoming event, underlining the importance of continued engagement in the promotion of peace.
In summary, the 11th Anniversary commemoration of True Father’s Holy Ascension in Ghana was a significant event that paid tribute to his enduring legacy of peace. It educated and inspired attendees about True Father’s life and work while fostering partnerships with individuals dedicated to the cause of peace, setting the stage for future collaboration and peace-building initiatives.
